FIRE!
First semester we had hurricane Dean, second semester we had a 7.4 earthquake near Dominica, and right now, as in currently, there is a raging forest fire about 200-300 yards from our house. FUN.
It started out around 2pm, looking like a cane field burning up in the hills, which is not uncommon around here, but by 5:00 it was looking a little questionable, and by 6:00 it was starting to get too close for comfort. We've all been on our porches watching it for the last few hours.
The fire department tells us we have nothing to worry about, and even now it looks like there's a lot of smoke coming off it, so they must be having some success putting it out. So fret not. I put in some pictures of the progression throughout the day. Down in the front, you can see my car (the grey one), so you can see how close it was. The pics were taken from my porch. yee-haw! Later!
